Obsessive Compulsive Disorder-OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition involving unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that are performed to reduce anxiety or prevent a feared outcome. These patterns can be time-consuming and cause significant distress or disruption in daily life.

Common OCD symptoms include:

  • Obsessions such as fear of contamination, harm, or making a mistake

  • Compulsions like excessive cleaning, checking, counting, or seeking reassurance

  • Difficulty tolerating uncertainty

  • Avoidance of situations that trigger obsessive thoughts

  • Distress or guilt about one’s thoughts, even when they don’t reflect true desires or intentions

OCD is not simply about being overly neat or anxious—it's a serious, treatable condition. Without treatment, it can become more severe over time.
